Morningside Local Groups

Eric Liddell Centre
The Eric Liddell Community is an Edinburgh care charity and community hub in memory of the inspirational Olympic gold medallist Eric Liddell. It is located in a converted church on Holy Corner, Morningside Road, Edinburgh (strictly slightly north of Morningside). The MHA has close links with the Centre, using it for meetings and (pre-pandemic) for the annual Spring Fling event.

Morningside Community Council
The Community Council for Morningside. A Community Council is the most local tier of local government. Their purpose is to act on behalf of local people, represent their views (particularly to other tiers of local government) and generally promote their community.

Morningside Library
The MHA has established close links with Morningside Library, a local landmark on Morningside Road. The Library kindly hosts MHA project meetings and public exhibitions. It is the Morningside branch of the City of Edinburgh Libraries.

Morningside Parish Church
Morningside Parish Church, situated on the corner of Braid Road and Cluny Gardens, is the parish church for Morningside and a Church of Scotland congregation. The MHA Winter Talks Programme takes place in the Church.

The Open Door
The Open Door is a community organisation primarily providing a variety of support for elderly people and sufferers from dementia. It offers a variety of services and is conveniently located on Morningside Road.

Libraries and Museums

Edinburgh Central Library
The Edinburgh Central Library on George IV Bridge, Edinburgh is the city-centre location of the City of Edinburgh Libraries service. In additional to a lending library with large holdings it also has extensive archives and collections, mostly relating to the City of Edinburgh. It regularly hosts exhibitions and events.

A site dedicated to sharing, exploring and discussing memories of Edinburgh. It is collected and maintained by the City of Edinburgh Libraries service.

National Library of Scotland
The National Library of Scotland on George IV Bridge, Edinburgh is one of the six UK legal deposit libraries and holds collections of Scottish, UK and international importance. It has particularly strong holdings of Scottish material and regularly hosts exhibitions and events.

National Museum Collections Centre Scotland
The National Museum Collections Centre Scotland, Granton, Edinburgh is part of National Museums Scotland and holds items in the National Museums’ collections not currently on display. It has extensive facilities for research, teaching and the curation and conservation of items. Public tours are arranged on a regular basis.

National Museum Scotland
The National Museum Scotland (formerly the Royal Scottish Museum), Chambers Street, Edinburgh, is the central Edinburgh location of National Museums Scotland. It has material relating to Scottish culture, history and antiquities, and international collections covering science, technology, natural history and world cultures. It regularly hosts exhibitions and events.

The Friends of the National Libraries (FNL) is a charity that supports the UK legal deposit and other libraries. It awards grants to national, regional and specialist libraries, assisting them to acquire, conserve and curate rare books, manuscripts and other material.
